The Benefits of Addiction Treatment

Almost 108,000 people died in 2022 as a result of drug-involved overdoses. With that in mind, one of the greatest benefits of drug addiction treatment is that it can save your life. However, overdose and death are not the only possible implications of substance abuse, and they are certainly not the only reasons to seek help. Addiction treatment can also help you:

  • Feel more free. You will no longer need to use drugs or alcohol to avoid withdrawals, cravings, and other symptoms.
  • Improve your quality of life. In research, addiction treatment is associated with better quality of life and life satisfaction.
  • Build or rebuild healthy interpersonal relationships. While addiction can strain romantic, familial, and other relationships, drug rehab programs can help you re-establish trust and learn new skills (e.g., communication skills) that improve your relationships.
  • Prevent new or worsened health problems caused by drug and alcohol use. Using substances can interfere with your physical and mental well-being. In some cases, addiction may cause permanent damage, but this can be prevented with treatment.
  • Avoid or overcome challenges such as job loss, problems at work, and legal or financial issues. These consequences of substance abuse can present at any time, and no one is immune to them.

Everyone has a different experience with addiction. Risk factors like trauma, taking some prescription medications, family history, and personal history can all increase the likelihood that you will experience substance abuse. No matter the cause, we’re here to help.

Who is Addiction Treatment For?

Addiction treatment is for anyone who has a substance use disorder or misuses drugs and alcohol. You can develop an addiction to many different substances. Most often, these will include:

  • Opioids, encompassing both prescription opioids like Oxycodone and other opioid drugs, like fentanyl or heroin.
  • Psychedelic and dissociative drugs, such as LSD, ketamine, MDMA, and psilocybin.
  • Non-opioid prescription drugs, such as benzodiazepines.
  • Methamphetamine (meth).
  • Cocaine.
  • Alcohol.
  • Cannabis.

Many people with a substance use disorder mix different types of drugs or abuse more than one type of substance. For example, alcohol may be used in conjunction with prescription drugs. This is called polysubstance use, which refers to the use of two or more substances.

When you first enter treatment at 5 Star Care, you will likely start with medically supervised detox. Many people experience mild-to-severe withdrawal symptoms when they first stop using substances. For some, going through withdrawal without medical supervision can be dangerous, leading to alcohol withdrawal delirium, seizures, and other serious or potentially fatal symptoms.

Our medical detox team will provide medications, hydration, and other forms of treatment for withdrawal symptoms until the acute withdrawal stage is over. Although the detoxification process is difficult, it is short-lived, and we are here to help you get through it safely and successfully.

Inpatient Treatment for Addiction

We provide residential treatment for drug and alcohol addiction in a high-end environment with access to luxury amenities. Specialist-led groups are held daily, and you will have regular sessions with an individual therapist. All clients at 5 Star Care get a personalized treatment plan, which may include:

  • A range of evidence-based treatment modalities for addiction and mental health.
  • Medication management for addiction and mental health.
  • Holistic treatment including sound bath and art therapy.
  • Physical activity, including private personal training.
  • Trauma-focused therapies.
  • 12-step meetings.
  • Family therapy.
  • Nutrition.

We also offer outings (e.g., beach outings, amusement parks), which you will choose with your group. At 5 Star Care, we go above and beyond to ensure our care aligns with your individual needs in recovery. If there’s a type of therapy or treatment you’d benefit from that we do not offer at our treatment facility, we will work to help you find it and will likely be able to include it in your treatment plan.
When clients complete our residential treatment program, we help them continue their addiction recovery journey with tailored aftercare services. Whether it is connecting you with outpatient treatment or finding local resources, our luxury rehab facility can help you transition to life after treatment feeling confident in your sobriety.

Many people struggling with substance abuse face co-occurring mental health disorders like depression or anxiety. 5 Star Care Los Angeles offers dual-diagnosis treatment to address moderate mental health conditions and related concerns, like chronic stress and trauma, alongside addiction.

This approach is linked to positive outcomes in addiction research. For example, treatment for co-occurring disorders is associated with improved quality of life, reduced medication interactions, better mental health, and lower rates of substance use.

Specialized Programs

5 Star Care Los Angeles offers specialized programs for populations who may have specific treatment needs. We offer addiction treatment for athletes, pilots, first responders, professionals, and others.
